Agartala, Oct 31: Tripura has emerged as the top state in the northeastern region for the successful implementation of the PM-KUSUM scheme, as announced by Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday.
Saha expressed his satisfaction with this accomplishment, stating that it showcases his administration's "steadfast dedication to advancing clean energy, empowering rural communities, and fostering sustainable development."
The PM-KUSUM initiative, aimed at enhancing solar energy utilization in agriculture, is being executed by the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Authority (TREDA), a government body focused on providing solar pumps to farmers.
Farmers who qualify for this program can obtain heavily subsidized solar pumps to replace diesel-powered ones, which can lead to lower irrigation expenses and reduced pollution, while also boosting their income.
"This is a remarkable instance of sustainable advancement! Tripura has achieved the top rank among all northeastern states in the execution of the PM-KUSUM scheme," the chief minister shared on social media.
He also mentioned that the Power Minister of Tripura, Ratan Lal Nath, received a distinguished award from Union Minister for Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi during a Regional Workshop held in Guwahati.
Power Secretary Abhishek Singh and TREDA's Joint Director Debasish Sukladas were also in attendance at the event.
